Since 1902
Since its founding in 1902, Kitazawa Bookstore has been part of Jimbocho, Tokyo’s historic book district, specializing in literature, the humanities, and scholarly works.
Antiquarian books carry with them the time they have passed through. We believe our role is to care for each book that has been passed down over the years, and to place it thoughtfully into the hands of the next person who needs it. In this way, we hope to support the continuing life of each book.
At the same time, we believe that the opportunity to read and learn should be open to everyone. Alongside preserving rare books for future generations, we hope to offer students, researchers, and those just beginning to discover books both accessible works and a place to encounter them.
Drawing on the knowledge and experience we have cultivated through Western-language books, we will continue to carry forward the knowledge and culture that have been passed down to us from the past.
1902年の創業以来、北澤書店は本の街・神保町で、文学、人文科学、学術書を中心に、多くの本と向き合ってきました。
古書には、それぞれに辿ってきた時間があります。大切に受け継がれてきた一冊を、次に必要とする方へ丁寧に手渡していく。そのつながりを支えることが、私たちの役割だと考えています。
同時に、本を読み、学ぶ機会は、誰にでも開かれているべきだと考えています。希少な書物を後世へ残すだけでなく、学びを求める学生や研究者、これから本に親しむ方々にも、手に取ることのできる書物と、出会いの場を届けてまいります。
洋書を中心に培ってきた専門性を受け継ぎ、過去から受け継がれてきた知や文化を、これからの時代へとつないでまいります。
